Smith and Agnes Kuennen, on 21 Apr 1947 in St. Luke's. Ida was born on 3 Jul 1927 in Saint Lucas. They had nine children. They farmed Southeast of Fort Atkinson until 1964. They continued to live on the farm and Clarence worked road construction for Herb Rausch Excavating, Myer Bros, and Reilly Construction until his retirement in 1982.

6-Judith A. Ameling was born on 10 Mar 1948. Judith married Richard Larry Hertges, son of Leonard Hertges and Viola E. Welper, on 15 Jun 1966 in St. John Nepomucene Church, Fort Atkinson. Richard was born on 22 May 1946 in Cedar Rapids, died on 3 Dec 2004 in Ossian at age 58, and was buried in St. Francis de Sales, Ossian. They had three children. He died of an apparent heart attack. In December of 1965, he joined the military. He proudly served his country in Vietnam from June 1966 to June 1967. He had a deep love of his country and the greatest respect for the men and women who serve to protect the freedom of others. He worked road construction and for HiGrade meat products before taking a position with the Winneshiek County Road Department in 1985 where he worked until his death of a heart attack. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, car races, football and the simple pleasures of the great outdoors.

Ameling was born May 12, 1928 in Cresco, the daughter of Arthur T. and Bertha P. (Weber) Grimm. On February 2, 1960 she married Richard Ameling. He died on February 25, 1993. She was employed at the Rath Packing Company, Chamberlain Manufacturing and the Waterloo Courier. Adeline was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, bowled on the Sunrise Senior League, and was an avid gardner and nature lover.
She is survived by three sons: Richard of Festina, Steven and Alan, both of Traer; four daughters: Sharon Lange of Waterloo, Norma Ameling of South Haven, MN, Susan Ameling of Rochesrer, MN, and Linda Crisman of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; seven brothers: Donald of Waterloo, Raymond of Hudson, Frederick of Rochester, MN, Gene of Riceville, Roy of Rochester, MN, Ronald of Riceville, and Dennis of Waterloo; and three sisters: Rosella Thompson and Bernita Bottema, both of Waterloo, and Karen Peik of Rochester. Adeline was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother: Paul; and one sister: Shirley Koontz.

WINNESHIEK COUNTY Teen killed in 1-car accident....... A Fort Atkinson teen-ager died and five other young people were injured when their car left the road and rolled over Friday night about a mile southeast of Calmar. Killed was the driver, Krista Huinker, 16, of Fort Atkinson, who lost control of the car on a curve, the Iowa State Patrol reported. The car rolled and landed on its top in the roadway.The car had been traveling east on 155th Street.
